Halloween & Trailer Previews

5 Sep 2007 In: Pop Culture

I went to go see Halloween last night at my local Rainbow Cinema. Being a huge fan of anything with gore and action, I was interested in seeing the movie. I’ve seen all of the Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday The 13th movies more then a couple time each since my firts sighting with them as a young 8 year old.

Halloween is a remake of the 1978 film of the same name. The film was written, produced, and directed by Rob Zombie, and was released in the United States and Canada on August 31, 2007 and is scheduled to be released internationally in October 2007. It is to be released on October 19 in Ireland and the UK. The film stars Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie, Tyler Mane, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris and several unknowns in other roles, including Daeg Faerch as young Michael Myers, Kristina Klebe as Lynda Van Der Klok, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Laurie Strode (a role played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the original film).

I really enjoyed myself at the movie. I felt it captured the 80s really well and keep you in that mind set. The only downside is that towards the end of the film, you feel like there isn’t as much of a story as you’ve at the beginning where they are setting the stage for who and what Michael Myers becomes towards the end of the film. Despite that one draw back, I would go see the movie if you are a fan of the series.

The Last Legion basted on what happened before King Arthur is looking like a sleeper hit this fall.

Donald Sutherland is back in Fierce People, which could be his best comedy to date.

Trade is a compelling-true story inspired drama ripe for the taking.

Hitman is looking even more amazing each time I see a new trailer for it. This could be the first video game to movie adaptation to do well beyond the gaming public.

Superbad was Supergood

23 Aug 2007 In: Friends and Family, Pop Culture

Superbad Trailer PosterWent to go see Superbad the other night and I was quite pleased with the out come. I wasn’t a fan of the 40-year old virgin. There I said it.. never got into the movie one bit. However, Superbad was really good. I haven’t laughted so much at a movie in a long time, I loved transformers, but that’s not a comedy.

The trailer for Superbad didn’t really do the movie justice. Most people seemed more confused after watching the trailer and trying to figure out what the movie was about. All I knew was that it involved two guys and a girl and the director of the 40-year old virgin. The movie involved a lot more then that but I would have to spoil it to tell you anything else.

The plot was kept at a even pace throughout and the laughs were more then real. The jokes didn’t seemed forced like in some movies as the chemistry on screen was spot on between all the actors. I really enjoyed the movie more then I thought I would and this seems like a DVD buy kinda movie…. after transformers of course.

Will at H&M, trying on some new clothes, which I liked but he felt different about. Just double click the picture to play the video.

Just some cool construction going on around the corner from me. They are still here, even if I think they are moving rather fast through the process. Just double click the picture to play the video.

blinkyandbart.gifThe Simpsons Movie has arrived in theaters this past weekend. Those are words many faithful, if there are any left, fans have been waiting to hear for years. The Simpsons is the longest running comedy and animated show in the US, if not the world. I was raised on television, in a social scene, and everything I know today I know thanks to what many call the idiot box. That may shock you, but what shocked me was in high school many of the teachers I respected and liked enjoyed watching The Simpsons as well. It was the shows high and low brow humor that they enjoyed and kept coming back for. It was the show for the every man/women. I’m not going to say whether I liked it or loved it, but I will say this. If you enjoyed the show at any point in the last 18 seasons then you need to go see it. Watching the movie was like reliving some of the greatest Simpsons moments the show had to offer. Lets just hope season 19 has a couple good laughs left in it because I was left marvelously happy after the movie.
I had the opportunity to head out to Wakestock this year and I took it. Winning a free two-day pass never hurts. Somewhere over the years I lost my love afair with sports, no gay-ness never got in the way. I think it was being in school and having the opportunity to join leagues that did it for me. Being at Wakestock made me wish I was more active and had me looking forward to snowboard this winter since I’ll have both the time and money to do it. But back to Wakestock. I had the chance to see Social Code in performance which was great as I’ve not been to a concert in a few years.

There was a lot to do at Wakestock from watching the freestyle moto-bike guys preform to skate contests to just all the hanging out and enjoying the great weekend weather. I got to pick up a new pair of sandals as well as shorts as it time to get some new threads. Plus my sandals broke a few weeks ago after a decade of loyal service. I’m ready for next summer and I hope I can do a few more Wakestock like events before the summer is out.
